A BIRTHDAY GIFT FOR A NEW MUM
Something relaxing and indulgent!
Evodia is an Australian company which produces a gorgeous selection of feminine toiletries, fragrances, skin care products and other delights including deliciously perfumed candles and fragrance infusers.
As you can see, I opted for Frangipani, which smells just heavenly!! To continue the theme I found a lovely frangipani card embossed with hearts and butterflies and teamed this with Phil Taylor gift wrap in citrus yellow and silver – love his range – quality paper and fab designs! I trimmed the packages with pretty silver ribbons to coordinate with the wrapping.
THE JOY OF GIVING
As you may have guessed – I do like shopping and have made it a practice to collect gifts for all occasions throughout the year (whatever the country). In addition to unique little treasures unearthed in exotic, far-flung markets, many a perfect present was sourced randomly from a department store “marked down” table (I’m convinced I have some sort of bargain sensor!). These finds take up temporary residence in my gift repository – the monstrous old armoire in my study. I have had extra shelves fitted, and grouped the gifts according to gender and age suitability so that, in a pinch, I can always find something appropriate – from a token hostess gift through to something extravagant for a special birthday or wedding!
Have fun creating a “composite” gift – a group of related items – like gardening tools and funky gloves, presented in a lovely pot, or a cooking combo, such as an Asian cook book, crockery, utensils (or placemats) etc. on a lacquered tray. How about a pretty bundle of girly indulgences in a gorgeous little basket or decorative box – the possibilities are endless and if you have any idea of the recipient’s favourite interests and lifestyle, you can come up with something original and useful for the person who has everything. Remember – it doesn’t have to be an expensive assortment – just clever and interesting! I’m sure they will appreciate the time and imagination invested in your gift.
TRIM TIPS – It’s nice to go to the extra trouble of co-ordinating the wrapping and ribbons etc. with the gift itself – continue the theme… At Christmas I like to add extra bling to special presents by tying on a pretty Christmas bauble or two – a great wow factor and a personal touch which is always appreciated!
